It’s been over a month since Avast and NortonLifeLock announced their intention to join forces. One of the primary reasons was the ability to invest even more resources and know-how into developing new products and enhancing customer experience, which would propel the whole cybersecurity industry ahead.
I’m happy to report that Friday was the last step needed on this path – the formal transaction acceptance by the UK court.
The combination between Avast and NortonLifeLock takes effect on the 1st of July.
I had a great time with Vincent Pilette, NortonLifeLock CEO, and discussed ways to connect our two businesses specifically for the advantage of customers. It was evident to both that the rapid pace at which the digital world is changing poses a danger to freedom in the digital world. The belief in the importance of defending this freedom is something both of our companies share in common. We’ve always been a champion for the rights of online users through our principles and products.
Avast update key is like a family to me and some of my colleagues. I was an intern and spent an amazing 27 years at the company. It’s not solely a business issue of my own. It’s also personal and has resulted in a myriad of feelings that I have written these lines.
The pride in
what we’ve achieved over the past 34 years that Avast has existed. The transformation from a two-person team of founders to a global business with nearly a billion dollars in revenue and a part of the highly regarded FTSE 100 index has been an absolute feat. Through the many years, the company has employed more than 7,000 people from all over the globe, each contributing their unique way to developing our brand. And I’m extremely grateful to every employee!

something that is coming to an end. It’s also the memory of the many milestones we’ve walked through. Avast pioneered free antivirus, founded on the belief that free internet security is essential to being a human, even in this digital age. Our 435plus million users are an enduring legacy that we will carry into the new Avast and will continue to grow upon.
I am excited
about the chance to continue doing amazing, exciting things. I am passionate about creativity and believe continuous change is the only route to long-term success. Furthermore, I can see the synergies between both companies, and I’m confident we’ll get amazing outcomes.
We are delight to welcome our new friends at NortonLifeLock and are now preparing for the next step in our shared journey. We are building a brand new company that will forever transform the world of cyber security and profoundly improve the concept of securing freedom in the digital world. It is thrilling. According to Winston Churchill, “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the future. But it is the end of the face. “
