A Canada Student Visa permits foreign or international students to start their study procedures or get various academic degrees in Canada. The worldwide students must be enrolled in an institution that is a DLI (Designated Learning Institution) and attains other prerequisites also.
Procedure to Apply for a Canada Study Permit Extension

Before you expand your study permit, assure that your institution is on the DLI list. However, if your college is not on the DLI list, you can go on with studying until your existing permit expires. After that, you are supposed to enrol yourself in a DLI so that you will be able to extend your study permit.
You have to begin the method of extension of your study permit at least 30 days prior if you have acknowledged to extend it. You can apply for an extension in an online and offline mode. But it is recommended by various Study Visa Consultants that apply in an online mode to make the whole process easier. However, if you cannot apply by online mode and decide to apply by paper mode because of some disabilities, you can ask IRCC for different formats, including braille and large print.
To apply online, you will require:
• A valid debit or credit card
• A camera or scanner that will make electronic copies of your documents.
There are various Canada study Visa process you should follow to extend your study permit.
Step 1: Go Through the Instruction Guide
Before you finalize your application to extend your Canada education visa, read the instruction guide carefully. The guide will assist you to fill each gap on the form.
Step 2: Sign in to Your Existing IRCC Account or Create A New Account Online:
The account is required to apply in online mode. This account can be used for your fees deposition, application submission, and to check your application status.
Step 3: Formulate Your Acknowledgments for the Online Method and Fill Out the Forms.
You must reply to a few queries online to check whether you are allowed for extension of your study visa for Canada. These questions will be asked before uploading your application. IIRC will generate a personal document checklist for you based on your answers.
Ensure that you will fill all the sections of your application. If you feel the question or section is not for you, write ‘Not Applicable’ or ‘NA’ there. If you do not complete your application, you may face a delay in processing, or even the application can be rejected.
Step 4: Fee Payment.
You have to pay the application fees before you submit your application. IRCC will ask you about fee payment. Online payment is the only acceptable fee method. If you pay the fees in any other form rather than online, IRCC will send your application back.
Mostly, processing fees for you and anyone involved in your application will be contained in your application fees. The current fee for the study permit extension is CAD 150. If you have provided your biometrics (photo and fingerprint), you must pay an additional CAD 85.
Step 5: Submit Your Application
You can fulfil your application once you finish your application and fee payment. The Case Processing Centre of IRCC will evaluate your submitted application and will decide whether you are eligible for an extension or not.
If there is no fault in your application, the Case Processing Centre will deliver you either:
• Refusing the letter of your application. OR
• A new study visa permit. OR
• Notification that your application has been forwarded to your local immigration centre for more information.
The local immigration centre will contact you for more details and clarification regarding the Canada study visa. If required, they will call you for a personal interview. Then they will submit the same report to the Case Processing Centre, and they will notify you by message or mail of their last decision.
Generally, the processing time for a student permit application is 119 days.
