INTRODUCTION:
Located in the Western Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, the Ruinsara Tal Trek is named after the holy lake that can be found at the river’s eponymous source in the Ruinsara Gad or Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. The Himalayas are undeniably stunning, with a brisk climate and beautiful, relaxing green meadows.
Its unusual characteristics stem from its setting, which consists of alpine grasslands and miniature Rhododendrons.
Fantastic Views on the Ruinsara Tal Hike
Among the unspoiled peaks, you’ll find Ruinsara Tal, from where you may take in breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding area, including the Swargarohini (I) and (II) ranges and the Bandarpunch and Ruinsara Ranges (III). Starting from here, you can embark on either the Bali Pass Trek or the Dhumdhar kandi Pass Trek, all of which have their respective expedition bases here.
Gorgeous and challenging, the path from Devsu Bugyal to Ruinsara Tal follows the winding course of the Ruinsara River. The valley is narrow, and you might make the comparison to Rishi Gorge in Odari Nanda Devi Sanctuary. However, this valley is not nearly as challenging, and the alpine flowers that line the riverbank are truly breathtaking.
Located in the stunning Swargarohini mountain range is the unique glacier lake of Ruinsara Tal. Close by, you’ll find pristine meadows. Relaxation is easy to find anywhere along the lake’s shore.
Trekking through Ruinsara Tal Picturesque Villages
Hike through picturesque, centuries-old settlements where life is still lived much as it was centuries ago. These communities are steeped in history and culture and feature such unique aspects as wooden homes and ornate temple architecture. What a stunning valley. Traditional village traditions and folk dance from the historic villages of Dathomir, Gangad, and Puwani, Osla immediately resonate with the audience.
Pawani, Osla is home to several impressively well-preserved old temples with mesmerising Himachali architecture that may keep you engrossed for hours. Methodology for. The trek from Dhumdhar Kandi pass to Black Peak Expedition’s Bali Pass and on to Swargarohini’s base camp is an arduous one. High up in the pass, snow persists until June and July.
Hikers who like crossing high mountain passes will feel right at home here. The journey across the pass takes the entire day, and there are countless snow slopes and sand dunes to negotiate.. Winter Trek in the Valleys is a Traditional Summer Activity.

Itinerary for the Ruinsara Tal
Day 1: You are picked up in Dehradun and driven to Sankri (210 km; 8–9 hours) (1920 meters)
Day 2: Traveling from Sankri to Taluka on Day 2 (11 km) Day hike from Taluka to Cheludgad (12 km/2700 m) in four to five hours.
Day 3: On the third day, hikers will cover the distance between Cheludgad and Devsu Bugyal, a distance of six kilometres that should take about three and a half hours to cover (3000 m)
Day 4: Hike the distance of 12 kilometres (6/7 hours) from Devsu Bugyal to Ruinsara Tal (3500 m)
Day 5: Get Out and See the Sites
Day 6: Hike from Ruinsara Tal to Devsu Bugyal (12 km)
Day 7: Hike the 18 kilometres from Devsu Bugyal to Taluka (6-7 hours).
Day 8: Travel from the beautiful Sankri to Dehradun on Day 8 (210 km) (7/8 hours)
A WAY TO GET THERE
From the Dehradun pickup point, we can get you in a taxi, however the fare is not included in the package price. Participants in the hike can chip in for the cab fare. Before the day of travel, we will establish a Whatsapp Group to coordinate logistics and communicate information. The trek’s end point of Dehradun will also be dropped off in a similar fashion.
Directions to the Base Camp for the Ruinsara Lake Trek (Sankri)
- Jolly Grant Airport, the closest airport to Dehradun, is located only 25 kilometres from the city centre and is therefore quite convenient for travellers. This airport is served by multiple daily flights from New Delhi.
- Trains depart from the Dehradun station. Nanda Devi Express and Dehradun Express are two trains that leave Delhi at night and travel to their destinations. It’s common knowledge that trains are more popular than planes for getting from Delhi to Dehradun since they allow passengers to take in the scenery at a slower, more leisurely pace, and are less expensive overall.
- To get there by road, take advantage of the reliable and safe public bus service that leaves regularly from Delhi ISBT Kashmere Gate and is operated by the government.
